THURLOW CRICKET CLUB SQUAD MEMBERS

Ben Piper (vc): RH (Shrek, Jordan, Beny Boy, Benjamin, SIS) (Cambs League Captain)

Vice Captain with great enthusiasm and determination.  A bowling allrounder who can struggle to control the ball when it's swinging around.  Has a great variety of tricks to his bowling some of which he can't predict himself.  Can also hold his own with the bat and contribute many good innings.

Keith Donno (c): RH (Crazy Frog) (Cambs League Vice Captain)

Skipper leads his team with a top mixture of funm enthusiasm and motivation a brilliant opening batsmen who allows an innings to be built around him, scores countless fifties.  Although not the most devasting batsman he can take any bowling apart if the occasion calls for it.  Also a top class wicket keeper with amazing agility and a great knack of encouraging the bowlers.

James Duck: RH (Ducky) (Midweek Captain)

A very good allrounder, can hold his place and bowler or batsman, has a fiery temperament that spurs him and the team on, his medium swing bowling earns him many wickets and he can bat from number 1 to 8.  A good fielder who has discovered the art of slip catching and has made that posistion his own.

Adam Basham: RH (Bashy) (Midweek Vice Captain)

Perfect team player just what a captain needs, a good allrounder that will never let you down, whether it his slow bowling that keeps the runs down mixed in with the odd wicket or his batting, lots of deflecting the ball around and nudging singles he is brilliant at rotating the strike and keeping the score ticking.  Not to mention his ability to rarely drop a catch.

Martin Buckner: RH (Buckers)

Highly aggressive and devasting batsman, has taken the game away from several teams in a very short time, not only that but a brilliant wicket keeper who has the mouth to annoy any batsman.  A brilliant off the field member of the club helping out with offcial events let alone helping with the preparation of the pitch.  Also takes it upon himself to organise team equipment and shirts.

Bryce Hurrell: RH (Bruce)

Very talented batsman who can both accumulate runs or smash them very quickly with an air of class.  Has scored numerous tons and is considered to be one of the better batsman in the club.  A very good fielder brings another string to his bow.

Peter Hulyer: RH (Vet)

Longest serving player and dangerous bowler who has a great knack of taking wickets and keeping the runs down using all his experience and knowledge of the game.  A player everyone looks up to and respects.  No mug with the bat as well has the head for tricky situations.

Wes Walker: RH (Wes)

Opening Bowler with serious pace, he scares most batmen out and his yorker has claimed many victims, several stumps and bails have been broken through the years.  Also an explosive batsman, he can smash sixes all round the ground and can turn a game in a flash.

Martin Farrant: RH (Fazza)

Talented opening batsman with the most annoying defensive shot in the world.  Has scored numerous centuries dispite his young age, has a good head on his shoulders and is also an excellent fielder.

Dan Wilson: RH (Daniel Son, Willy)

Young star of Thurlow cricket has made it through to the adult teams while still a very young age, an energetic fielder with a powerful throwing arm who also can bowl spin or seam.  He is concentrating on spin bowling and took several wickets this season, definately one for the future.

Lee Phillips: LH (Henry, Taric)

His left arm bowling is a good weapon for the team but his batting is even better, an agressive striker of the ball who hits more sixes than singles.  Always plays with a smile and helps to keep the morale of the team up.

Tom O'Hare: (RH) (Harey, Garfield Sobers) 

Agressive, Dynamic and explosice batsman, are key words to describe this player, a very useful cricketer who can take apart any bowling attack, excellent in the field as well with a bullet like arm and safe pair of hands. 

John Robinson: RH (JR)

Oldest player for Thurlow has played for many years and now represents the over 50's for Cambridgeshire, although his fielding and batting may have seen their better days his is still sharp as a tack when it comes to bowling and is regulary the best bowler on the pitch with his constant putting the ball in the right place every time and moving it away or in at will.

Stuart Watson: RH (Ginge)

Talented cricketer a bit of an allrounder and a handy man to have in a crisis.  Has some of the funniest way of sledging around a great foil for the Keith D.  Top man for behind the scenes workings of the club.

Carl Muller: LH (Moron)

Came through the youth policy a few years back and is a very good opening bowler, each season his pace increases and his ability to swing the ball gets better all the time.  He can confuse the best of batsman with the combination of pace and swing and can only get better.

Luke Kingston:RH (LK)

Youngester just starting his career, an up and coming right arm slingy bowler who generates rapid pacey and bounce.  Has come on in leaps and bounds and risen to the challenge of opening the bowling, a serious player for the future.

John Frank: RH (Posh Boy)

Handy new addition to the club last season, proved his worth as a handy bowler by scooping the midweek bowling title last season.  Also has the knack of scoring runs when needed and is excellent in the field.  His humour and general personality is a good asset to the club.

Heinz Muller:  LH

Thurlow youth players coach, a handy man to have around, has a great knack of taking catches you wouldn't expect to be taken and will get anything in the way of the ball to save runs.  A dogged determined batsman who makes the bowler work hard for his wicket.  has taken on the role of vice captain to John Robinson

Wayne Muller: LH (Waynetta)

Another product of the Thurlow youth setup, was captain of the under 15's and promises to be a handy and aggressive batsman.  Is a good wicket keeper and should become an excellent kepper in the future.  Is good in the field with a powerful arm and good hands for catching.

Mark Basham: RH (Bash)

Brother to Adam, doesn't really play anymore but will always help out, another nudger and deflector of the ball who loves to take singles to the wicket keeper.  Can bowl some handy spin but is known for his excellent fielding and brilliant throwing arm, has caused numerous run outs in his time.
